More About Ian Emmerson
A scholarship to King's College, Cambridge, followed by three years in the Footlights, several successful Edinburgh Fringe shows by the age of twenty-two, and a subsequent glittering career in showbiz. These are just some of the things I may have had if I had only tried harder at school. Unfortunately, I didn't, and as a result, I set off on a long, hard road of penury and obscurity, before finally arriving here.
As if that wasn't bad enough, the first three decades of my life were spent in Sunderland on the Northeast coast of England; I was finally banished for two crimes: I didn't like football and I owned a warm overcoat. After a spell of wandering the Earth (like The Hulk, or Kung Fu), I settled in Derbyshire. I like it better - it's nowhere near the sea.
I have been playing music on and off since I was a teenager. For the last few years it has been decidedly 'on.' After strangling tunes out of many different things, I have come to the conclusion that the ukulele is the king of instruments.

In short, it's bloody great.
